Notes about final Forest Wanderer article (pending); PLUS, introducing a new blog.

This blog will soon end with a special article or piece of writing,
which in fact will be formally copyrighted.

I am writing something that I think now I will call: The Peavine Upanishad.
It will be a very extensive and complete statement of what I have learned, sitting
by these unusually calm and radiant folks "living out in the forest". (This sitting
has been going on, in my case, since the early 1970s.)

That will be my last posting here.

...

I am delighted to see we have a new blogger on the block and I am sure it's
going to be not only a valuable resource but DYNAMITE!

Maybe I will wander the slot machine Grand Sierra forest this weekend, after all....

I'm not registering to attend, but it might be fun hanging out on
the periphery. Perhaps even become a millionare via the Wheel of Fortune!

Bill Clinton and Kal Penn will reportedly speak before the convention
on Saturday.

Seeing how I don't really talk politics in public anymore, I will put
on a different blogging hat and try to report on the "scene". Be a Herb
Caen for Reno! (Oh...is that Mryna's job or Ryan J's job? Well,
if so, there's a new kid on the block!)

I will, of course, be working in an esoteric fashion, utilizing
ancient Tantric yogic technology, to put out healing vibes. (Om Shanti.)
There may be a need also to do some physical healing work, as some
folks there will have attended tonight's "Progressive Pub Crawl"
poolside party at the Grand Sierra. (Don't forget your designated
drivers, partygoers!)

The only thing I have to make sure I take a firm stand on is not
letting Billy Howard talk me into taking a ride on that rocket ship
they have on the north side of the Grand Sierra. I have infirmities
that disqualify me for astronaut training.

Myrna the Minx identifies herself.

Reno News and Review article.

I think I remember this woman. At the caucus. There was ONE person who came
up and expressed gratitude, or thanks, at the end (as I was sitting down working
on some paperwork).

Update: Myrna confirms it was her there.

Change of subject.

Posting binge coming to an end. Should be back in Reno by late tommorrow
afternoon.

Ken Wilber on Integral Politics

What is "exopolitics"?!??!

I do not have a clue (personally) about the underlying reality of the premises of this
movement. One way or another.

My attitude is pretty much, "let's deal with what we can clearly see is going on."

If there are folks here (natives of planets in other solar systems), and this could
very well be the case for all I know, I'm not so sure how much we can really know
about them until they emerge from the shadows in a clearly undeniable way.

Historical note: Ed Komarek and I co-founded Operation Right To Know in 1992.

Click on this to see video of 1993 White House Demonstration

(I was identified, on the demonstration/rally permit, as the person in charge of
above event. The person in a striped shirt, with a ponytail, and holding the
front of this long cloth banner, is me.)

O'bama, the Irish leprachaun!

Sailing away with an angel......

And, Sam might be singing and strumming also...

A taste of wait awaits us in Wingfield Park this summer.

A preliminary FW note: Eckhart Tolle uses Kena Upanishad to make a point

The following passage is from Tolle's recent book, A New Earth, and
from Chapter 7 (Finding Who You Truly Are):

Let us put it like this: There is something within you that has an affinity
with space; that is why you can be aware of it. Aware of it? That's not totally
true either because how can you be aware of space if there is nothing there to
be aware of?

The answer is both simple and profound. When you are aware of space, you are
not really aware of anything, except awareness itself---the inner space of
consciousness. Through you, the universe is becoming aware of itself!

When the eye finds nothing to see, that no-thingness is perceived as space.
When the ear finds nothing to hear, that no-thingness is perceived as stillness.
When the senses, which are designed to perceive form, meet an absence of form,
the formless consciousness that lies behind perception and makes all perception,
all experience, possible, is no longer obscured by form. When you contemplate
the unfathomable depth of space or listen to the silence in the early hours
just before sunrise, something within you resonates with it as if in recognition.
You then sense the vast depth of space as your own depth, and you know that
precious stillness that has no form to be more deeply who you are than any
of the things that make up the content of your life.

The Upanishads, the ancient scriptures of India, point to the same truth
with these words:

"What cannot be seen with the eye, but that whereby the eye can see: know
that alone to be Brahman the Spirit and not what people here adore. What
cannot be heard with the ear but that whereby the ear can hear: know that
alone to be Brahman the Spirit and not what people here adore....What cannot
be thought with the mind, but that whereby the mind can thing: know that
alone to be Brahman the Spirit and not what people here adore."

God, the scripture is saying, is formless consciousness and the essence
of who you are. Everything else is form, is "what people here adore".

The twofold reality of the universe, which consists of things and space--
thingness and no-thingness--is also you own. A sane, balanced, and
fruitful human life is a dance between the two dimensions that make up
reality: form and space. Most people are so identified with the
dimension of form, with sense perceptions, thoughts, and emotion, that
the vital hidden half is missing from their lives. Their identification
with form keeps them trapped in ego.

What you see, hear, feel, touch, or think about is only one half of reality,
so to speak. It is form. In the teaching of Jesus, it is simply called
"the world" and the other dimension is "the kingdom of heaven" or "eternal
life".

Just as space enables all things to exist and just as without silence there
could be no sound, you would not exist without the vital formless dimension
that is the essence of who you are. We could say 'God' if the word had
not been so misused. I prefer to call it Being. Being is prior to
existence. Existence is form, content, 'what happens'. Existence is
the foreground of life; Being is the background...

Sunday, in talking with a friend (who is familiar with all this type of
stuff), I started calling this "background" (i.e. the ground of Being)
"the nothing is happening 'place'". That's my sense of it.

My last words, in public, related to politics.

First, read this by "hyper-educated-uppity-woman":

"Uppity
tells Obama supporters: Win Without Us

And, now, my last public words (maybe even private ones also!) are these:

Okay, "hyper-educated-uppity-woman", we will win without you (and the very few
who, like you, seem to have some current mental health issues).

Pending first Forest Wanderer Notes on the Upanishads.

The first notes will cover the Upanishads, texts that were first written
around 500 BCE or even earlier. They come on the heels of Vedic literature,
which goes way, way back. The Upanishads present the core of the Advaita
Vedanta tradition. (Vedanta means "the end/culmination of the Vedas, which
again are the earliest writings of the Vedas.)

The Upanishads literally mean "sitting down beside" a teacher. During this
time, many authorities were concerned that so many were going out into the
forests in search of wisdom and enlightenment. Thus, prematurely abandoning
the student and householder stages of life. The authorities were concerned
about the families left behind.

The Upanishads have also been defined as texts that confront ignorance
and help open the doors to awakening to all pervasive spirit (i.e. energy)
and the underlying ground of being.

Big news (for me) out of Davis.

I just returned from a day and a half in Davis, California.
I was visiting two friends and as we walked from their house,
though downtown, to the UCDavis campus where the Whole Earth
Festival was happening, I was successfully lobbied to move
to Davis. (A no-brainer after absorbing the place!)

It will be the perfect staging ground for assisting the
big family move up to Humboldt County, California as well as
positioning myself within closer range of traveling in the
future to visit up in Eureka, CA.

I was a bit surprised that Kim in particular would lobby
so hard. But, she really didn't have to after all.

The latest target date for moving will be August, but it could
possibly be as early as July.

Back to Reno on the evening of the 16th and happily awaiting
the big Party Day for us on the evening of the 20th.

Anyway, back in Cameron Park and it's time to catch up on things.
(i.e. binge computer time again, lol.)

In Davis now, for Whole Earth Festival plus a note about final FW Notes.

See the events and program here.

The daily journal routine, or regular journaling, will now cease and
the final and remaining posts of this blog will consist of
notes relating to the subjects in this blog post here (click on hypertext).

Will report on anything interesting here in Davis and that should be about the
end of any journaling by me. Other plans are afoot!!! Basicly entailing
helping find places for my family (now in Cameron Park) up in Humboldt County,
California. Too much traveling, too little computer time looming over the
next several months of this year.
